Description (field, expectations, comments): The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and the following qualification criteria:
1. A Master’s degree (MSc) in Chemistry.

2. A Doctoral degree (PhD) in Chemical Sciences.

3. A documented publication record in theoretical chemistry and/or molecular physics, commensurate with the candidate's stage of academic career.

4. Research experience (evidenced by publications) :

- research on weakly bound molecular complexes,

- quantum chemical calculations of electronic structure,

- modeling of interaction energy surfaces,

- application of quantum dynamics methods to study bound, resonance, and scattering states of molecular complexes,

- application of mathematical and numerical methods to determine the eigenstates of quantum systems,

- interpretation of experimental results based on theoretical models and calculations.

5. Experience in computational techniques:

- proficiency in programming languages (specifically Fortran and Python), including the ability to write, develop, and optimize source codes,

- proficiency in using MATLAB or equivalent environments,

- knowledge of the Linux operating system at a level sufficient for administering local servers and computing clusters, as well as installing and configuring new software,

- knowledge of Linux scripting languages (Bash, AWK, etc.).

6. Proficiency in higher mathematics.

7. Willingness to conduct research on the development of computational methods in theoretical chemistry.

8. Ability to effectively present research results (including delivering conference presentations and drafting scientific publications).

9. Willingness to teach courses in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and programming across study programs offered by the Faculty of Chemistry, Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK);teaching experience

10. A very good command of the Polish language, sufficient to conduct teaching activities, is required.

11. A good command of spoken and written English is required.

Additional information: Documents must be submitted by June 8, 2026. The results of the competition will be announced by June 10, 2026. The planned starting date of employment is October 1, 2026. The University does not provide accommodation.

Please be informed that the person selected through the competition will be obliged to submit a certificate from the National Criminal Register with regard to offences specified in Chapters 19 and 25 of the Penal Code (including offences against sexual freedom and morality), in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code and in the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction of 29 July 2005 (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939 and of 2022, item 2600), or for the corresponding offences defined in foreign law.
