NCU hand in hand with the city
The framework for cooperation between Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Municipality of Toruń is set forth in an agreement signed in October 2024 by the Rector of Nicolaus Copernicus University, Prof. dr. hab. Andrzej Tretyn, and the Mayor of Toruń, Paweł Gulewski.
Among other things, it provides for cooperation in creating a better urban environment, identifying social needs, joint artistic and promotional activities, archaeological research and the organisation of events.
The name of Nicolaus Copernicus University not only reflects its patron, Nicolaus Copernicus, but also the fact that it is located in Toruń. It is hard to imagine Toruń without the university and the university without Toruń. We must realize that, in terms of the number of people employed at our university, we are the largest institution in the city. Moreover, the university comprises 12,000 students who arrive here after summer break and bring life to the city.
