Occupational Safety Training

Organization of training courses on the subject of
Elements of Occupational Safety and Health and Ergonomics

All occupational safety and health training courses are organized as part of the course “Elements of Occupational Safety, Health, and Ergonomics.” At the Toruń campus of Nicolaus Copernicus University, they are organized by the Occupational Safety, Health, and Fire Protection Section. The training courses will be available on the Moodle platform for all courses from October 15, 2025, to December 15, 2025.

The basic training course on Occupational Safety and Health and Ergonomics, delivered via e-learning, is mandatory for first-year students in full-time and part-time programs, as well as for students in postgraduate and doctoral programs in all fields of study at Nicolaus Copernicus University.

The advanced training course on Occupational Safety, Health, and Ergonomics is conducted in the form of in-person classes (lectures and exercises) following completion of the basic training course. It is mandatory for students of selected doctoral schools and experimental programs in the following departments: Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, and Applied Computer Science; Historical Sciences (Archeology only); Earth Sciences and Spatial Planning; and Fine Arts. Supplementary course materials are available on the Moodle platform for students to review. Lectures, tutorials, and the final exam take place on scheduled dates in the Teaching Room of the Occupational Safety, Health, and Fire Protection Section at the Department of Chemistry.

A student may be exempted from the training requirement if they have already completed training at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in the scope required by the Faculty (Appendix No. 2 to UMK Rector’s Order No. 123 of August 10, 2022), have a record in the USOS system, and no more than 5 years have elapsed since the training was completed. In the case of a 6-year unified degree program, the validity period of the basic training is extended by one year. In justified cases, upon the student’s request, the decision to exempt the student from the training is made by the Dean of the Faculty.

Upper-class students who do not appear on the lists transferred from USOS to the Moodle platform and who do not have current, valid health and safety training as required by NCU (e.g., after transferring from another university, after a leave of absence, etc.) should be reported by the Dean’s Office to the Occupational Safety, Health, and Fire Protection Section (dszbhp@umk.pl) so that they can be granted access to the e-learning platform.

Office hours for students: Tuesdays, 12:00–14:00 (September through June)

Retaking tests: Occupational Safety, Health, and Fire Protection Section, 35 Gagarina St., 87-100 Toruń, or, alternatively, by the designated deadline in the Occupational Safety and Health Classroom at the Department of Chemistry.
