(Projekt realizowany w ramach Programu HOMING PLUS)

Okres realizacji projektu: 01.09.2013 r. - 31.08.2015 r.
Priorytet: I. Badania i rozwój nowoczesnych technologii

Umowa o dofinansowanie: nr HOMING PLUS/2013-7/9 z dn. 24.09.2013 r.

Całkowita wartość projektu: 313 966,00 zł, w tym dofinansowanie z EFRR: 266 871,10 zł.

Opis projektu:
The proposed research will focus on developing single photon sources for specific applications:

  • Quantum communication – the goal is to develop key components required to reach the goal of making Quantum Communication useful by expanding its range to longer distances and enhancing its performance. Work will be done toward the construction of single-photon sources as well as higher-dimensional photon states useful for applications with telecommunications fibers.
  • Testing fundamental aspects of quantum theory – the research goal is to use novel multilevel-states source and detection techniques to test fundamentals of quantum mechanics.

The main effort will be focused on designing and implementing efficient single-photon sources. Their characteristics have potential to improve certain QC protocols and can be applied to newly proposed tests of fundamentals of quantum mechanics. The list of research goals includes:

  • Increasing the range of fiber based communication (spectral correlations)
  • Hybrid source capable of working with satellite and fiber technologies.
  • Optimization of satellite link (spatial correlations).
  • Multidimensional entangled quantum states measurements.
  • Single photon diagnostic techniques.

The sources and diagnostic tools will be developed by theoretical modelling and laboratory tests. Some of the concepts and technical problems will be tackled in collaboration with partners.
