The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and the following qualification criteria:
1. Possession of a Master's degree in history.
2. Possession of a doctoral degree in the humanities in the discipline
of history.
3. Academic achievements spanning in the 19th-century global/general
history, both global/general history and the regional history of
the Prussian Partition, with particular emphasis on West Prussia
4. Teaching experience in higher education.
5. Experience in organisational and outreach/popularization
activities.
6. Documented engagement in academic life, including participation in
international research conferences.
7. Good knowledge of English and/or German.
8. Proficiency in Polish.
Additional qualifications:
1. Research conducive to collaboration with historians specialising
in 20th-century and contemporary history.
2. Experience in comparative research.
3. Research focus on the history of ideologies.
4. Research interests in the history of political life in Germany
(with particular emphasis on Prussia).
5. Participation in projects funded by the National Science Centre
(NCN), the National Programme for the Development of Humanities
(NPRH), or other grant agencies.
6. Completion of international internships or scholarships/fellowships
abroad.
7. Holding degrees in other fields of study.

Additional information: Documents should be submitted before 31.05.2026 The contest will be adjudicated no later than 31.08.2026 Your expected employment will commence on 01.10.2026 The university does not provide accommodation. Competition procedure: stage 1: qualification of candidates based on submitted documents stage 2: qualifying interview with selected candidates Proposed scope of responsibilities: 1. Research activity in the field of the 19th-century history, with particular emphasis on the history of ideologies, the history of West Prussia, and the history of Germany. 2. Teaching courses for students of history, Scandinavian and Baltic studies, and military studies. 3. Active participation in the academic and organisational life of the Institute, Faculty and Department. 4. Engagement in collaborative research within research teams, including interdisciplinary ones. 5. Pursuit of external research funding including research grant. 6. Continuous development of academic and teaching qualifications.
Please be informed that the person selected through the competition will be obliged to submit a certificate from the National Criminal Register with regard to offences specified in Chapters 19 and 25 of the Penal Code (including offences against sexual freedom and morality), in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code and in the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction of 29 July 2005 (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939 and of 2022, item 2600), or for the corresponding offences defined in foreign law. The obligation to verify applies to a person whose tasks will be related to the protected activity referred to in Article 21. of the Act of 13 May 2016 on counteracting the threat of sexual offences and the protection of minors (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 560).
