The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and the following qualification criteria:
1. Possesion of a master’s degree in archaeology.
2. Possesion of a doctoral degree in the field of humanities in the
discipline of archaeology.
3. Education and significant scholarly achievements in the field of
late medieval and/or early modern archaeology (also known as post-
medieval archaeology).
4. Experience in:
a. conservation of archaeological artefacts made from organic
materials (wood, leather, textiles, antler),
b. documented work in this area (conservation documentation).
4. Proven academic achievements at the national level:
a. authorship or co‑authorship of scientific works,
b. active participation in scientific conferences.
5. Fluency in Polish, both spoken and written.
6. Very good command of English, both written and spoken.

Additional information: Documents should be submitted before 31.05.2026 The contest will be adjudicated no later than 30.09.2026 Your expected employment will commence on 01.10.2026 The university does not provide accommodation. Competition procedure: stage 1: qualification of candidates based on submitted documents stage 2: qualifying interview with selected candidates Proposed scope of duties: 1. Conducting active research in the discipline of archaeology, including: participation in national and international conferences; regular publication of research results in highly ranked publishers and journals listed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; collaboration with other research institutions in Poland and abroad; readiness to obtain external funding for research activities. 2. Teaching duties, including courses in the conservation of archaeological artefacts; readiness to continuously improve research and teaching competencies. 3. Participation in organisational activities, including undertaking and responsibly performing administrative and organisational duties, particularly those arising from the current needs of the Faculty of History and the Institute of Archaeology, and related to the research and teaching activities carried out within the unit. 4. Outreach and public engagement activities, including participation in and organisation of promotional events for the university, faculty, and institute. 5. Compliance with copyright law and related rights in research and teaching activities.
Please be informed that the person selected through the competition will be obliged to submit a certificate from the National Criminal Register with regard to offences specified in Chapters 19 and 25 of the Penal Code (including offences against sexual freedom and morality), in Article 189a and Article 207 of the Penal Code and in the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction of 29 July 2005 (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1939 and of 2022, item 2600), or for the corresponding offences defined in foreign law. The obligation to verify applies to a person whose tasks will be related to the protected activity referred to in Article 21. of the Act of 13 May 2016 on counteracting the threat of sexual offences and the protection of minors (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 560).
