Privacy Policy of the "NCU OnBoard" mobile application

This Privacy Policy sets out the rules for the processing of information, including personal data, when using the "NCU OnBoard" mobile application (hereinafter referred to as the "Application").

§ 1. General information and Data Administrator

  1. The "NCU OnBoard" application is used to display the content of a website https://www.umk.pl/en/onboarding/ in the WebView component. The purpose of the Application is to facilitate access to information for new students and guests of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
  2. The administrator of your personal data processed in connection with the use of the content displayed in the Application isNicolaus Copernicus University in Toruńwith its registered office at ul. Gagarina 11, 87–100 Toruń, NIP: 879-017-72-91, REGON: 000001324 (hereinafter referred to as the "Administrator" or "UMK").
  3. The Administrator has appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) who can be contacted in all matters relating to the processing of personal data and the exercise of rights related thereto.

§ 2. Scope of collected data

  1. The "NCU OnBoard" application itself does not collect, store or process any of your personal data. The application does not require creating an account or logging in.
  2. All data is processed at the level of interaction with the websitehttps://www.umk.pl/displayed in the Application. The principles of data processing by the UMK website are specified in separate documents available on the University websites.

§ 3. Application Permissions

  1. The "NCU OnBoard" application is designed to minimize data collection and does not require the user to grant access to sensitive device resources.
  2. App does not ask for active permissionsfor such system functions as location, contacts, microphone, camera or device memory.
  3. The only permission that the operating system can ask for isaccess to the network (Internet), which is necessary for its fundamental operation, i.e., to load the content of the website.

§ 4. Technical and Analytical Data

  1. The app itself does not conduct behavioral analytics on users or track their activity.
  2. To ensure proper operation and for statistical purposes related to the stability of the Application, data may be collected automated, anonymized error information(so-called failure reports,crash reports) or basic technical data (e.g. operating system version, device model).
  3. This data, if collected (e.g., by an application distribution platform such as Google Play Store or Apple App Store), is aggregated, fully anonymous and used solely for technical purposes and to improve the quality and stability of the Application.

§ 5. External Services and Components

The website displayed in the Application may contain embedded components and links to external services. The use of these elements involves data processing by third parties.

  1. Mapy Google (Google Maps):The website may contain interactive maps provided by Google. Using them may involve the collection and processing of data (e.g., IP address, location data, cookie data) by Google to properly display the map and provide related services.   2. Social media links (e.g., Facebook):The website may contain links to official UMK profiles on social media. Clicking on such a link will take you to an external website that has its own privacy policy. The administrator has no influence on the data processed by these websites.   3. External link support:The application is designed so that any attempt to open a website outside the umk.pl domain will launch the default, external web browser on your device. From that moment on, this Privacy Policy ceases to apply, and you are subject to the privacy policies of the browser provider and the website you are visiting.

§ 6. Cookies

  1. The "NCU OnBoard" application does not use cookies.
  2. Cookies may, however, be used by the website umk.pl and by external components embedded on it (e.g., Google Maps) to ensure their proper operation. Detailed information on the use of cookies by UMK websites can be found in the Nicolaus Copernicus University Cookies Policy.

§ 7. User rights (GDPR)

Since your personal data may be processed by the Administrator (UMK) as part of the interaction with the website, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • The right to access your data and receive a copy of it.
  • The right to rectify (correct) your data.
  • The right to delete data.
  • The right to restrict data processing.
  • The right to object to data processing.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, i.e., the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw).

§ 8. Changes to the Privacy Policy

The Administrator reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy. We will inform you about any changes by publishing a new version of the document. We recommend that you check the Policy regularly.
