Call for Proposals for postdoctoral fellows outgoing to foreign institutions under the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" programme

The objective of the calls of proposals is to enable young scientists employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń to gain international research experience by completing postdoctoral internships at recognized foreign scientific institutions. The competition may be entered by a person who obtained a doctoral degree within 3 years (in justified cases up to 5 years) before submitting the application and is employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in the group of research or research and teaching staff. In justified cases, the competition may be entered by a person for whom the procedure of awarding a doctoral degree has been initiated prior to submitting the application and who meets other criteria for entering the competition. Call for Proposals for postdoctoral fellows incoming to the NCU under the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" programme

The objective of the calls for proposals is to internationalise scientific research and/or education at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń through postdoctoral fellowships undertaken by young scientists from abroad. The calls for proposals are open to anyone who has been awarded a doctoral degree from a foreign scientific institution within up to 3 years (where justified up to 5 years) prior to submitting an application. In justified cases, the competition may be entered by a person for whom the procedure of awarding a doctoral degree has been initiated prior to submitting the application and who meets other criteria for entering the competition.

Competition for experienced scientist and research – teaching employees outgoing to foreign institutions as part of the "Initiative of Excellence - Research University" program

The objective of the competition is to enable experienced scientists employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń to gain international research experience through short-term visits to recognized foreign scientific institutions. The call of proposals may be entered by a person employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University as a professor or university professor as well as assistant or , if he obtained a doctoral degree within more than three years of submitting the application and meets other criteria for entering the competition.

Call for Proposals for professors incoming to the NCU under the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" programme

The objective of the calls for proposals is to internationalise scientific research and/or education at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń through postdoctoral fellowships undertaken by young scientists from abroad by carrying out short-term visits by outstanding scientists from abroad. The call is open to a person employed in a foreign scientific institution as Assistant Professor, Researcher, Associate Professor, Full Professor or Reader (or in equivalent positions).

Leaders of Innovation of Pomerania and Kuyavia and Innovator of UMK

The Academic Entrepreneurship Incubator of the Nicolaus Copernicus University together with Toruńska Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego S.A. (Torun Agency for Regional Development) invite you to take part in the 12th edition of the Innovation Leaders of Pomerania and Kuyavia. The competition is open to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises from the region, academic enterprises and scientific units / research teams that can boast of success in developing or implementing an innovative technology, product or service. The competition evaluates projects not older than 2 full calendar years preceding the date of submission to the competition. The winners of the competition will receive the title of "Innovation Leader of Pomerania and Kujawy" and other prizes funded by the organizers of the competition.

From among the applications for the Innovation Leaders of Pomerania and Kujawy competition, an innovative research team of NCU employees will be selected and a Special Award of the Rector of the NCU Innovator NCU will be awarded, in the amount of PLN 5,000. PLN, financed by the Excellence Initiative - NCU Research University project, task 6 "Innovations and cooperation with the socio-economic environment".

Applications for the competition will be accepted until September 24, 2020.

The announcement of the competition results and the award ceremony will be held on October 21, 2020 during the Gala as part of the Regional Innovation Forum - Academic Entrepreneurship Forum.

 

INCOOP - microgrant competition

The aim of the competition is to develop the potential of research workers, doctoral students and students by initiating and supporting cooperation between the Nicolaus Copernicus University and the social and economic environment. Teams composed of at least two people may apply for funding: a researcher who is the team leader (declaration according to the form), a doctoral student and / or a student (according to the definition of the Beneficiary, detailed in the terms of the competition contained in the regulations). application of a partner from the socio-economic environment who is interested in cooperation or implementation of the results of works carried out under the micro-grant. The competition is organized by the NCU Academic Incubator of Entrepreneurship.

WARNING! As part of this call for proposals, it is necessary to demonstrate as a partner an entity from the socio-economic environment (e.g. economic, public, social entity) that is interested in cooperation or implementation of the results of works carried out under the micro-grant. Spin-off companies are excluded from this catalog.

Applications will be accepted continuously by the NCU Academic Incubator of Entrepreneurship only as a scan of documents to the e-mail address: aip@umk.pl until funds are exhausted, in the announced rounds. Round I is a recruitment lasting from 29/06/2020 to 29/07/2020. The next round will be announced after the publication of the ranking list of completed round projects. On July 22, the template of Annex 2 in the scope of the PhD student / student declaration was changed. The change concerns the introduction of the missing Student's declaration, in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations: "I declare that the results of the research carried out under the micro-grant will be included in the diploma thesis (will be the basis for writing the thesis) within 12 months from the settlement of the micro-grant."

Due to the number of applications, which significantly exceeds the limit of allocation of funds in the competition, we would like to inform you about extending the deadline for examining applications until 23/09/2020.

 

BELL: Best E-Learning Lecturer

The aim of the competition is to create an offer of classes conducted with the use of distance learning methods and techniques for the needs of remote education at the University in the form of an e-learning course. The competition is individual or collective. University teachers and doctoral students may participate in the competition.

The call for proposals covers the financing of projects involving the preparation of: (a) e-learning courses in Polish or English, carried out in the fields assigned to the disciplines related to priority research areas, (b) e-learning courses in English, which are an offer for students of the University and universities members of the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) network, whose main topic covers issues related to the priority areas of YUFE. 

 

TRIZ Training

The aim of the training is to raise competencies in the field of managing the process of creating innovation by familiarizing yourself with the tools of the TRIZ methodology - a problem-solving methodology that provides its users with repeatability and predictability in providing ideas and creating creative solutions, and which helps to create optimal solutions to problems by improving existing solutions.

The training is aimed at students, doctoral students and research and teaching staff of the Nicolaus Copernicus University. The pilot edition of the training assumes the implementation of the program for two groups: research and teaching staff (15 people) and students and doctoral students (15 people).

 

Excellence Initiative - Debuts (2nd edition)

The aim of the competition is to support the development of scientific activities in line with the four most important goals of the University as a research university (4xI @ NCU), which are: internationalization, interdisciplinarity, innovation and integrity. They include all kinds of preliminary, exploratory and pilot research, queries, research internships, research trips, active participation in scientific conferences or consultation trips.

The competition is addressed to researchers and researchers of the University, in particular young people who are not currently managing and in the last 5 years have not managed their own research grant obtained from external funds from the National Science Center (NCN), the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW), the National Humanities Development Program (NPRH), the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR), the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) or the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

 

CRUSH - research on the Covid-19 pandemic Implemented at the Nicolaus Copernicus University by representatives of Social Sciences and Humanities

The aim of the competition is to broaden knowledge about the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic and its effects from the perspective of the humanities, social sciences and arts. In particular, the competition aims to address the social, educational, psychological and economic challenges of the pandemic. The competition is open to academic teachers, doctoral students and students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Both individual and team applications can be submitted to the competition. Competition projects may involve cooperation with representatives of the socio-economic environment, such as enterprises, institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Competition applications in the form of a PDF file, prepared in English or Polish, in accordance with the form constituting Annex 2 to these Regulations, should be sent directly to the IDUB secretariat (e-mail: idub@umk.pl) by April 23, 2020 Only complete entries containing all required information will be considered for the competition. A competition for research related to the COVID 19 epidemic in the field of Technical and exact Sciences and Health Sciences

The aim of the competition is to provide financial support to scientific teams submitting an original research idea in the field of basic and/or applied research with the implementation potential on COVID-19, in particular to expand knowledge about the understanding of the mechanism of operation and infection of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, methods of diagnosis, and reliable testing, treatment and prevention of the spread of the disease, including broadly understood medical protection, methods of protecting health care workers, as well as the use of IT tools in the above-mentioned theme.

The competition is addressed to NCU employees with at least a doctoral degree and with documented scientific achievements in the areas related to the purpose of the competition. Applications for the competition in the form of a PDF file, prepared in English or Polish, in accordance with the form constituting Annex 1 to these Regulations, should be sent directly to the IDUB secretariat (e-mail: idub@umk.pl). Only complete entries containing all required information will be considered for the competition. Questions regarding the competition can be sent to idub@umk.pl.

 

Inter disciplinas excellentia

The aim of the competition is to select interdisciplinary research teams and support the development of their scientific activities in line with the four most important goals of the University as a research university (4xI@NCU), which are: internationalization, interdisciplinarity, innovation and integrity. The competition is addressed to University employees who have demonstrated significant, documented scientific activity in the last 3 years (including publications, monographs, organization of conferences and workshops). The submitted teams may include existing teams (in one or more than one organizational unit of the University) or new teams whose employees plan interdisciplinary research cooperation. Excellence Initiative – Expert

The aim of the Initiative of Excellence - Expert (ID - Expert) program is to create a system of substantive support from more experienced researchers for academic teachers and doctoral students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń who prepare applications for research grants from external funds and mentoring at the initial stage of the grant implementation. Only academic teachers with at least a doctoral degree, employed at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, who have completed and correctly accounted for at least one grant obtained in competitions organized by the NCN, NCBiR, NPRH, NAWA, FNP and under EU programs, can participate in the competition. The list of selected experts will be announced on the website of the Initiative of Excellence - Research Learning in the "Competition results" tab by April 6, 2020 at the latest, and applicants will be informed about the competition by e-mail to the address from which the application was sent. Mobility for doctoral students:

The objective of the call is to enable doctoral students of the University from outside the Centers of Excellence and Emerging Fields to gain international research experience through short-term visits to recognized foreign scientific institutions. A doctoral student of the University who is neither a member of the team under the Center of Excellence nor a member of the team under Emerging Fields may take part in the call. Under the call for proposals the funding may be obtained for a two- to four-week visit (hereinafter referred to as the internship) to a foreign scientific institution.

The objective of the call is to enable doctoral students from Emerging Fields of the University to gain international research experience through short-term visits to recognized foreign scientific institutions and through participation in foreign scientific conferences. A doctoral student of the University who is a member of the Emerging Fields team may take part in the call. Submissions to the call must be sent by e-mail to mobilnosci@umk.pl until April 3, 2020.

Grants4NCUStudents:

The objective of the call for proposals "Grants4NCUStudents" is to support the scientific initiatives of students and doctoral students which are in line with four most important objectives of the NCU as a research university (4xI@NCU), namely: internationalization, interdisciplinarity, innovation and integrity. These include especially preliminary research, exploratory research, pilot studies, research mobility, purchase of materials, travel to attend international conferences, and participation in calls for proposals.

Applications for the call for proposals "Grants4NCUStudents" shall be sent using the application form attached as Annex 1 to these Rules to 28 February 2020 via mail to: Grants4NCUStudents@umk.pl. The list of laureates shall be announced at www.umk.pl/idub. The decisions, including the evaluation report - Annex 2 to these Rules, shall be sent by e-mail to the address entered in the application form.

The call for applications for the ID-UB Publications competition from EF members and SD for 2020 has been completed. By the end of this year we ONLY accept applications from members of CE Teams.

At the same time, we would like to remind you that according to the Regulations of this competition, Art.1 p.6

"Upon  the  approval  of  the  competent  Director  of  the  Centre  of Excellence  or  the  head  oftheEmerging Fields, support for the publication prepared by a staff member from outside the Centre  of  Excellence  or  Emerging  Fields  may  be  provided  within  the  budget  of  the Centre  of  Excellence  or  Emerging  Fields. Including  a  publication  in  the  settlement  of  a priority research areaof the Centre of Excellence or the Emerging fields and compliancewith the provisions of Art. 2 of these Rules are the necessary condition."
