Kierunek: Environmental Protection (full-time, 2nd cycle education) - studies in English (NQF)

Why study Environmental Protection?

Environmental protection is becoming an increasingly important global issue due to the continued pressure from climate change and land-use change. It is a multidisciplinary, fast-growing scientific discipline in the field of mathematics and natural sciences and environmental studies. Protection of the environment is necessary due to various human activities in the global scale, therefore, comprehensively trained experts in this field are needed.

MSc course (two-year full-time studies) has been designed to develop your understanding and knowledge in the field of sustainable development, methods, techniques and technologies used in environmental protection and environmental management. You will be encouraged to develop the skills required to carry out ecological surveys, habitat assessments, environmental impact assessments, critical evaluations and produce a dissertation report on a subject of your own choice. In addition, you will gain the skills to present yourself and results of your projects, necessary in today's job market.

Within the studies, you can take courses in a variety of subject areas, including:

  • Landscape planning and GIS
  • Environment-friendly technologies in agriculture and forestry
  • Land Reclamation and Restoration (including saline areas)
  • Modelling and statistics in environmental sciences
  • Environmental biotechnology
  • Environmental microbiology
  • Toxicology and physiology of organisms
  • Ecology and evolution of the natural environment (including urban ecology, human ecology, paleoecology)
  • Environmental policy
  • Marketing and management in environmental sciences
  • Scientific writing and publishing
