The Lifelong Learning Programme - LLP

LLP - General Information

On 15 November 2006 Lifelong Learning Programme was adopted by the European Commission for the years 2007-2013 (published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 22 Dec. 2006).

It applies to all types and levels of education and is accessible for entities from:

  • EU member states
  • EFTA and EEA countries
  • Candidate country - Turkey
The general objective is to reinforce the contribution made by education and training to achieving the Lisbon goal of making the EU the most competitive knowledge-based economy.

The activities include

  • sectoral programmes
    • COMMENIUS - school education
    • ERASMUS - higher education
    • LEONARDO DA VINCI - vocational training
    • GRUNDTVIG - adult education and other pathways
  • transversal programmes
    • Key activity 1 - Policy cooperation and innovation
    • Key activity 2 - Languages
    • Key activity 3 - ICT
    • Key activity 4 - Dissemination and exploitation of results
  • Jean Monnet programme

The Programme is managed by EACEA - Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency in Brussels (see http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/index.htm).

LLP at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń - EPS

NCU in Toruń, Poland (Erasmus code PL TORUN01) launched application for an Erasmus University Charter in due time.

Erasmus Policy Statement was prepared basing on the University strategy and the specific "International Policy of NCU in Torun in the area of European Educational Programmes".

Our involvement in the ERASMUS Programme at central university level will include:

  • international student exchange: study and placement mobility
  • teaching staff mobility

Other activities and actions will be faculty-based.

LLP will be managed by the International Programmes Office - http://www.umk.pl/en/cooperation/ipo.

At present the list of our partner universities for 2010/2011 includes ca. 270 Institutions of Higher Education. The list will be published after it has been completed by January 31 on http://umk.pl/wspolpraca/europrogedu/erasmus/partnerzy/

According to available Bilateral Agreements the numbers will exceed 500 out-going students and 200 teachers.
