Survival Guide for Visitors - Tips / Before departure

TIPS

It is important to notice that the International Programmes Office takes care of ERASMUS students in terms of formal issues and administrative and organisational matters, such as providing information on application and accommodation procedures, organising the Orientation Week etc. However, all academic and didactic matters connected with the recognition of ECTS, the choice of subjects, or the preparation of Transcript of Records are dealt with by your Faculty Erasmus Coordinators .

  • The language of instruction at NCU is mainly Polish; consequently, if you wish to find out more about special courses in foreign languages please contact your Faculty Coordinator. (for more information please also see chapter TORUŃ & UNIVERSITY, section LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION & LANGUAGE COURSES).
  • Provided you need to go to Dean's Office (DZIEKANAT) or to deal with some other formal issues, we advise you to ask a Polish friend to assist you, especially when you feel that your language skills are not good enough.
  • If you would like to prolong your stay in Toruń or in Bydgoszcz e.g. during holidays, please check the availability of rooms in the Student Dormitory. If you study at NCU in the winter semester, your room is booked since the beginning of October until the mid-February, whereas, students coming for the summer semester have their rooms booked between the mid-February and the end of June.
BEFORE GOING HOME

At the end of your stay, which we hope will be instructive and memorable for you, you will be asked to fill in THE EVALUATION FORM (available at www.umk.pl/en/cooperation/downloads/evaluation.doc) and leave it in our office.

Do not forget also about the "YELLOW CHART" - a certificate stating that you have returned all the books to university libraries and paid for your room in the Student Dormitory.

TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS is provided to all Erasmus students on their individual request. Therefore, if you need to present such document at your university, please, remember to contact your Faculty Erasmus Coordinator early enough to let him/her prepare your transcript of records including your marks, classes and lectures attended (please do not leave it till the last week of your stay at NCU).
