Survival Guide for Visitors - Organization of studies
According to Bologna Process the basic university course in Poland lasts three years, at the end of which students are awarded a Bachelor's certificate (LICENCJAT). After two additional years of studies students are awarded a Master's degree (MAGISTER). Some special courses are combined so as to last five or six years after which one obtains the title of Master (MAGISTER). Having obtained the degree of Master (MAGISTER), it is possible to engage in further study for the PhD (DOKTOR).
In the chart below, for the sake of simplicity, all references to studies for the first three years are referred as 'undergraduate', studies for the final two years are referred to as 'graduate', while all studies subsequent to this (only for MA diploma holders) are referred to as 'postgraduate' or 'doctoral'.
