LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION AND LANGUAGE COURSES
The lectures and classes at NCU are held in Polish, except for the Philological
Faculty where courses are taught in the target languages respectively (English,
French, German and Russian etc.). Other Faculties have also recently introduced
a limited number of modules in English, for example Lectures and Seminars in foreign languages at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management or Master of Business
Administration (MBA) classes (run in cooperation with the Dominican University in Chicago, USA) or Comparative
Law Course at the Faculty of Law and Administration. The list of such lectures
and seminars may be available separately.
Moreover, NCU provides Erasmus students with a special course in English
devoted to several issues regarding Polish geography, history, social and
political life, economy, and culture. More information you may find on
our web-site: www.umk.pl/en/cooperation/
LEARNING POLISH
The Centre of Polish Culture and Language for Foreigners (Studium
Kultury i Języka Polskiego dla Obcokrajowców), which has been in operation
since 1994, organises and conducts courses in Polish language and culture
for foreigners visiting Poland and for those who intend to undertake studies
in Poland. All Erasmus students are warmly encouraged to attend an intensive
one-week Polish language course (free of charge) before the beginning of
each semester. Throughout the academic year, there is a continuation of
this course with the classes held twice a week.
During the summertime, the Centre runs a Summer School of Polish Language
and Culture. Moreover, the Centre has also been selected to organise an
Erasmus Intensive Language Course.
